In a tough and balanced game, the 3rd-seed Praia beat no.6 Barueri at the start of the playoff quarterfinals of the 2020/21 Brazilian Women’s Superliga Banco do Brasil: 3-2 (25-19, 17-25, 25-14, 23-25, 16-14).
Praia outside hitter Fernanda Garay ‘Fê Garay’ was the top scorer in the match with 22 points. Suelen Pinto made 85 % reception (26 digs, 1 error, 31 % excellent). Kisy Cesário notched 20 points for Barueri. Kenya Malachias had 4 blocks, while Nyeme Costa made 85 % reception (13 digs, 46 % excellent). Barueri players were deprived of guidance from their head coach José Guimarães ‘Zé Roberto’ who was suspended after receiving three red cards in the regular season.
