Dentil Praia Clube achieved a win over Barueri Volleyball Club and remained with a full set of points in the 2022-23 Brazilian Women’s Volleyball Championship.
The second away match for Praia in the 2022-23 Superliga 1XBET Feminina ended with their victory. The Uberlândia team won the first three regular season games, including the challenge with Barueri, valid for Round 10 (rescheduled for earlier due to Praia’s participation in the FIVB Club World Championship). The side commanded by the Brazil Women’s National Team head coach, José Roberto Guimarães ‘Zé Roberto’, canceled five match points in the fourth set but succumbed to the vice-champions in the end. The amazing Dominican Brayelin Martínez tallied 34 points for Praia, while Tainara Santos made 80% reception (10 digs, 40% excellent). Maiara Basso and Isabela Paquiardi scored 10 points apiece for winless Barueri (0-3). Diana Alecrim made 6 blocks and Paulina Souza had 77% reception (35 digs, 43% excellent).
Praia, therefore, remained alone at the top of the standings for now, but there are three other teams still with perfect records (not all with full points, though) who played their second-round matches at the same time. The next in line is Gerdau Minas, who outplayed Energis 8 São Caetano (0-2) in straight sets on the road (15 points from Thaísa Daher with 73% effectiveness of attack – 11/15 – and 74% reception by Dominican Yonkaira Peña – 19 digs, 47% excellent). Then, there are Fluminense (18 points /4 aces/ of Argentine Elina Rodríguez), who beat ABEL Moda Vôlei 3-0, and Esporte Clube Pinheiro, who, unlike the last two mentioned teams, needed the tie-break to get the better of Unilife-Maringá, thus not collecting the maximum number of points. Edinara Brancher top-scored for Pinheiro with 31 points, while Gabriela Martins ‘Gabi Martins’ had 5 blocks.
Earlier, Sesi Vôlei Bauru defeated Osasco São Cristóvão Saúde in the biggest match of Round 2.
