José Roberto Guimarães, aka “Zé Roberto”, was named the best coach in Brazil last year by the Brazilian Olympic Committee (COB).
The head coach of the women’s volleyball national team, Zé Roberto, will be honored on February 2 as the best coach in Brazil in 2022 when it comes to collective sports. The commander of the “Seleção”, a finalist in the FIVB World Championship and FIVB Volleyball Nations League, will be honored by the COB at the Prêmio Brasil Olímpico, the gala ceremony of Brazilian sport, which will be held on February 2 at the cultural complex Cidade das Artes in Rio de Janeiro.
It’s the fifth time that Zé Roberto has been chosen as the best coach in the country in collective sports since the inception of the award in 2001. In addition to commanding the national team to podiums last year, he was awarded for the work that evolved in the consolidation of two important leaders of the team: the outside hitter Gabi and the middle blocker Carol. Zé Roberto is also deserved for rejuvenating the team that has been playing in recent years, giving chance to Kisy and Júlia Bergmann, who stood out in the VNL.
