Vôlei Renata pulled off a dramatic comeback defeating Joinville 3-2 to secure a spot in the Brazilian 2024/2025 Men’s Superliga semifinals. Down two sets early (21-25, 20-25), the team from Campinas stormed back to win the next three (25-21, 25-21, 15-9), thrilling a packed home crowd at Ginásio do Taquaral.

Star middle blocker Leonardo Andrade – Léo led the charge with 17 points, including eight blocks, earning the VivaVôlei award. Adriano Xavier (19 points), Bruno Lima (15), and Maurício Borges (13) contributed to the team’s balanced offense.

The victory also marked a turnaround in the playoff series, after Vôlei Renata dropped the opening match. They now face Suzano in the best-of-three semifinal, starting April 22, in Campinas.

This is Vôlei Renata’s sixth time reaching the Superliga’s final four and their second straight season doing so.

Earlier, Praia Clube clinched a historic semifinal berth after defeating defending champions Sesi Bauru 3-1 in a dramatic playoff decider. Held at Arena Paula Skaf in Bauru, the high-intensity match featured a record-setting first set, ending 41-39 in Praia’s favor. The Uberlândia-based team now advances to face top-seeded Sada Cruzeiro in the best-of-three semifinals. Franco Paese led Praia’s charge with 29 points, while libero Pedro Henrique Tomasi – Pedrinho earned the VivaVôlei Trophy with an outstanding defensive performance.
