Pinheiros
The highlights of the match were Pinheiros’ receiver Ellen and libero Léia. The result was with partial 25-20, 15-25, 21-25, 28-26 and 15-7 in the match that was held at the College Multisport Gym Salesiano São Gonçalo in Cuiabá.
Ellen’s block on Fabiana brought the match to a tie-break. In the tiebreaker, it was equal until 6-6 when Ellen obtained decisive two blocks on Bia (8-6). Then Pinheiros had a counter attack for 9-6 and soon it was 11-6. Sesi finally gave up with an attack in out for 15-7.
This was the first time in the last 14 years that an important Brazilian competition was decided without the presence of any of the strong teams from São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. The last time it happened in Super League season 2000/01 when the playoff final was between Flamengo and Vasco.
