But despite the tears from some of Italy’s players, most of them were aware they could not do better against the new Olympic champions at the moment.
„This is a team of simple people like those you can meet in the morning at the bar. A team of people with a big heart. No doubt we were here for a different medal than this. But we played a great tournament,“ said Ivan Zaytsev.
„It’s always difficult to talk after losing a final, but it’s also nice to do it with a medal around the neck. Early part of the game was tense and we were able to be three points ahead. Then we made three or four mistakes and we allowed them smell the blood. I’m very proud of what we did: the whole team has put personal stories together and opened it’s heart to share something great with others. I think this is the reward for all the efforts we have made. It’s not the gold medal, but that’s OK,“ added ’The Zar’.
