Ze Roberto
Legendary head coach of Brazilian Women’s Volleyball National Team, who will remain at that position in the next four years, took over Division 3 team in his country. Not only that. A three-time Olympic champion (once with Men’s and twice with Women’s National Team of Brazil) will pay food and trainings of that team, which is called Barueri, with his own money.
“I have this dream for 15-20 years. I like the project so much. At first, we wanted to take advantage of players who were without a club. We are happy and they are dedicated. There are no sponsors, so far, only some support came from the municipality of Barueri,” Zé Roberto said to “SporTV” and added that he decided to take over this team because he has been living in the city where it belongs since the 1990s.
Barueri are consisted of young players who dream of getting to the the top one day. But, among these youngsters there is one highly experienced player and bronze medalist at the 2000 Olympic Games, Érika Coimbra.
Until they receive investments to qualify for the Superliga B (Division 2), Barueri will try to qualify there throughout Silver Cup (Taça de Prata). Two best teams from that tournament will book their tickets to Superliga B.
