We have already written about the main factors that had huge influence on the victory of Sada Cruzeiro, now we are going to analyze the performance of the European champions.
Let’s start with the first reason why Zenit Kazan lost the game.
– Matt Anderson! The U.S. volleyball star was not on his level during this important match. He scored five points and it’s not enough for such a player as he is. At the reception, he simply couldn’t do anything against powerful spikes and serves of Sada Cruzeiro’s players!
– Setters! The head coach of Vladimir Alekno had lots of difficulties with the performances of his setters, Alexander Butko and Igor Kobzar. Both of them were underperforming but Alekno didn’t have any other option. In some situations, they made wrong choices which often led to the point for But, we have to admit that in some moments they didn’t have a good support from the receivers.
– Middle blockers! Artem Volvich and Alexander Gutsalyuk were in the shadow of Sada Cruzeiro’s middle blockers Simon Robertlandy and Isac Santos. The Russian players scored four points combined (Volvich 3 – 1 block, Gutsalyuk 1) which is not enough to beat the opponent such as Sada Cruzeiro is. They were even powerless to stop any of the attacks that were coming from the other side.
– Wilfredo Leon and Maxim Mikhailov! The only criticism for these two stars is that they didn’t take the responsibility in the important moments. We watched them in much better editions…
– Vladimir Alekno! It seems that experienced Russian volleyball coach didn’t prepare his team for a big challenge called “Sada Cruzeiro”. Obviosly, he didn’t learn the lesson from the last year. Even worse, Zenit suffered much tougher loss compared to the last season…
