The Brazilian Superliga champions Sesc, ex-Rexona/Sesc, won the national Supercup for the third time in as many editions of the tournament.

In the finals in Fortaleza, the side coached by Bernardo Rezende ’Bernardinho’ lost the first set to Camponesa/Minas, and was so close to losing the second one as well (12-16). But, the entrance of Juciely Barreto to the floor changed the course of the match. Sesc leveled the score and then, took the third set. When Minas tied at 2-2, the tie-break was to decide on the Supercup winners. Sesc showed more consistency in the fifth set that was full of errors on both sides.

Each team was deprived of the help of one important player. Sesc missed Gabriela Guimarães ‘Gabi’ while the U.S. opposite Destinee Hooker did not play for Minas as her arrival in Brazil is expected soon.
