In Sunday’s final, Brazil will face Argentina who beat Chile in straight sets (25-22, 25-21, 25-20).
Both Brazil and Argentina earned spots in next year’s FIVB Volleyball Boys Youth World Championship in Mexico, while Chile and Venezuela will battle for the final available spot from the South American tournament.
The top scorer for Brazil on Saturday was Leonardo, who picked up 18 points. He dedicated the win to coach Percy Oncken, who was celebrating his birthday.
“In contrast with yesterday’s game, we were more focused and didn’t give chances to the Venezuelans”, Leonardo stated. “Today is Percy’s birthday and this victory is for him.”
Centre blocker Douglas Bastos said the team did what the coach told them to.
“We played with much more concentration than yesterday”, he said. “We could do everything Percy asked and were able to win without too much trouble. Now we have to forget the excitement of today’s victory and focus on tomorrow’s big game and our goal of winning the tournament.”
