Valeriya Shevchuk (12 points) and Viktoria Pushina (10 points) led the defending champions to the 3-0 win over Serbia 26-24, 25-21, 25-17.
A game of the day was played in Pool B between Turkey and Germany. After a five-set battle, Germany came out as the winners 25-23, 25-21, 22-25, 23-25, 15-10. The top scorer in Germany was Emma Cyris with 26 points, while Derya Cebeciogly had 23 points on the other side.
The host of the tournament couldn’t do anything against the Netherlands. They had to surrender after three sets 25-11, 25-13, 25-15.
