The Italian side Yamamay e-work Busto Arsizio easily prevailed over CSM Volei Alba Blaj on the road in Romania in Game 1 of the CEV Cup finals (3-0: 25-19, 25-16, 25-14) and will need to win two sets in the rematch to lift the trophy. Thus, the Italian team extended their perfect record in the tournament – nine wins in as many matches.

Dutch Floortje Meijners led two-time CEV Cup winners with 14 points (3 aces) while Sara Bonifacio made five kill blocks. American Sonja Newcombe was the closest in Alba to making double digits – eight points.

The rematch in which Alba will try to make their second straight appearance in European cup finals successful (lost in the 2018 CEV Champions League final) is scheduled for March 26.
