It was a very uncertain game until the end since the winner was decided in the tie-break. The Polish fans had a huge reason to celebrate at the end 3-2 (22-25, 25-16, 25-19, 17-25, 15-11).
The game was a real excitement since both sides gave a huge effort to win this game. Germany had a better start of the match and they had to fight for staying in the game in fourth set. Fortunately for 10,000 fans at Atlas Arena, Poland won the tie-break and advanced to the semis.
It’s their first semifinals since 2009 at the European Championship.
Magdalena Stysiak (22) and Malwina Smarzek (21) were the best scorers in Poland, while on the other side Louisa Lippman had 16 points.
They will now travel to Turkey to meet Giovanni Guidetti’s side in the semifinals.
