Vasas Óbuda Budapest recorded their first-ever win in the Champions League in their premier participation in the strongest club tournament in Europe.
The Hungarian titleholders swept the home side of Luka Bar, who has been dominating the Montenegrin female volleyball scene for many years, in the first leg of the 2nd Round of the 2020 CEV Champions League. The team from the Hungarian capital ran over hosts by a 3-0, leaving rivals in single digits in the third set: 3-0 (25-12, 25-17, 25-7).
Vasas’ 21-year-old outside hitter Kata Török was the most prominent player of the match – she served 9 aces! She scored a game-high 16 points, while Serbian Sanja Kaličanin made 5 kill blocks. There were no double-digit players in Bar. As a matter of fact, only five players of Montenegrin titleholders managed to put their names in the scoresheet. The rematch is scheduled in a week.
