Polish champions ŁKS were losing by a 2-0 in sets to Khimik from Ukraine in Pool C of the Champions League but managed to reach the tie-break in which they dominated for the final win of 3-2 (23-25, 17-25, 25-20, 25-18, 15-8). Thus, the team from Łódź noted down its second triumph in as many games, both in five sets, in this season’s edition of the most prestigious European club competition. Serbian Katarina Lazović and Izabela Kowalińska scored 22 points apiece for ŁKS, while Joanna Pacak set up 5 kill blocks and Krystyna Strasz made 71% reception (17 digs, 35% excellent). As for Khimik, who are at 0-2, the veteran Tatyana Kozlova tallied 20 points and had 74% reception (23 digs, 22% excellent).
In Pool A, the Turkish powerhouse Eczacıbaşı VitrA Istanbul ran over the home side of LP Salo from Finland by a 3-0 (25-22, 25-10, 25-14) and reached 2-0. Salo have the exact opposite record. Serbian opposite hitter Tijana Bošković scored game-high 16 points, while her teammates made as many as 17 kill blocks combined. There were no players in double digits when it comes to scoring in Salo but one of their players really stood out in defense. The libero Eveliina Rautiainen made 72% reception (18 digs, 67% excellent).
