CL W: Imoco go to Club World Championship full of confidence, Parubets can’t stop Cannes

Italian side Antonio Carraro Imoco Conegliano relatively easily prevailed over C.S.M. Volei Alba Blaj from Romania in Round 2 of the 2020 CEV Women’s Volleyball Champions League pool stage.

The vice-champions Imoco recorded a straight-set victory on the road in Transylvania against Alba in Pool D, their second in as many games in the Champions League. Also, it was Imoco’s 12th success in a row this season (not a single loss), including all competitions in which they played so far: Italian Championship, Super Cup, and Champions League! The Italian side will now travel to China for the FIVB Club World Championship that will start this Monday. Paola Egonu top-scored for Imoco with 19 points. Serbian Bianka Buša made 11 points for Alba, who are at 0-2.

In Pool E, RC Cannes beat Uralochka-NTMK Ekaterinburg in the tie-break in Russia to continue their good Champions League campaign, which consists of two victories and no defeats. The French team was led by Ukrainian Nadiia Kodola (24 points), Myriam Kloster (8 kill blocks), and Italian Veronica Carocci (79%, 14 digs, 43% excellent). Kseniia Parubets poured in 27 points for Uralochka, while Ekaterina Enina set up 5 kill blocks.
