In a nerve-racking second leg of the 2020 Challenge Cup quarterfinals, Dresdner pushed the match against Thiras to the Golden Set. After a 3-1 defeat in the first leg, the German side achieved a win with the same result at home. Then after trailing by a 1-4 in the Golden Set, the German cup winners turned around and celebrated with a 15-13. An 18-year-old Monique Strubbe led Dresdner with 20 points, including 5 kill blocks. Cuban Yaremis Mendaro Leyva put down 20 points for the losing side.

France’s Béziers VB and Turkey’s THY İstanbul recorded double straight-set wins in rematches and confidently marched into the semifinals.
