Portugal’s Sporting CP Lisboa qualified for the 1/8 finals of the 2021 Men’s Challenge Cup despite having lost in Germany from Helios Grizzlys Giesen in the second leg of the round of 32. Given they won 3-0 in the first match at home, the ’Lions’ only needed to take two sets today. The final result was 3-2 (25-22, 21-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-12) for the Grizzlys.
Brazilian Paulo Victor Silva top-scored Sporting with 22 points. He included 4 blocks in his display. His compatriot Victor Hugo Pereira also had 4 blocks.
The team from the Portuguese capital, the 10th team to secure a place for the next round, doesn’t know the name of the opponent yet. It will be either the Czech’s VK Lvi Praha or Latvia’s RTU-R Jūrmala (dates for their face-off not yet determined).
