The French team Volero Le Cannet pulled off an upset in the playoffs against the favored Developres Rzeszów, winning in straight sets in their first match-up.
The 3-0 victory, under the guidance of Head coach Mladen Kašić, has given Volero a confidence boost as they head into the second leg of the playoffs next week, with hopes of progressing further in the Champions League quarterfinals. In contrast, Developres Rzeszów must recover from their defeat and prepare for their next match on March 2nd to bounce back.
The game’s Most Valuable Player title was awarded to Anna Kotikova from Volero Le Cannet, who scored an impressive 15 points, including one ace, with a remarkable 54% success in attack. Eva Yaneva, Kotikova’s teammate, was the most successful server, with three aces. Gabriela Orvosova, with 16 points and a 40% in attack, was the top scorer for Developres Rzeszów.
“We played a very good game, delivering a very good quality. We were very disciplined in all areas. When we watched the videos, we thought it was going to be very difficult to win against a team like that. We had very good service and the block-defence worked very well, as we agreed. The problem is that we still have a match on Saturday and then, the match in Poland will not be the same, we have to win two sets to qualify. We’ll do everything we can,” said Mladen Kašić, head coach of Volero Le Cannet.
