The European Cups season finals have commenced and Olympiacos Piraeus emerged victorious in the first leg of the CEV Challenge Cup final against Maccabi Yeadim Tel Aviv, winning 3-0 on their field.
Playing in front of over 3000 Maccabi fans, Olympiacos clinched the win in straight sets (20-25, 23-25, 14-25) with 14 blocks, including 4 each by Tonček Stern and Guazzelli Bonatto, proving crucial to their success. Tonček Stern was the top scorer of the match with 19 points, while Salvador Hidalgo Oliva contributed 15 points for Olympiacos.
The second leg is set to take place in Greece on Wednesday, March 15th.
