Croatia and Greece have emerged as the standout teams, retaining flawless records after five days of competition in the Euro Volley U17 women’s Championship.
In Group I, Croatia preserved their undefeated run, claiming their fifth consecutive victory, while Italy held on to their second place in the group, keeping their semi-final hopes alive. In an intense five-set match against Bulgaria, Croatia showcased their resilience, securing a win in the tiebreaker. The Netherlands triumphed over Georgia, despite some difficulties, marking a 3-0 victory. After two consecutive losses, the co-hosts Serbia bounced back from being one set down to edge Poland 3-1. Rounding off the fifth day, Italy vanquished Estonia in straight sets to remain in contention for the semi-finals.
Over in Group II, held in Békéscsaba, Turkey ended Slovenia’s winning spree with an impressive 3-0 triumph. As a result of their 3-2 victory over Hungary, Greece stands as the only team with an unblemished record in the group. In other games, Germany logged their second victory as Leana Grozer delivered an extraordinary 33-point performance, leading to a 3-1 win over Romania. Belgium’s “Yellow Tigers” managed a 3-0 triumph over France, marking their first victory in the championship.
The thrilling tournament will resume tomorrow before concluding the pool play stage on Wednesday.
