CEV CL M: Cucine Lube Civitanova Leads Trio into CEV Champions League Semifinals

In an exhilarating round of the CEV Champions League quarterfinals, Cucine Lube Civitanova, Jastrzębski Węgiel, and Ziraat Bank Ankara have advanced to the semifinals.

Cucine Lube Civitanova faced Halkbank Ankara in a gripping match that saw the Italian team dominate on their home court at Eurosuole Forum Civitanova Marche. The match began with Civitanova taking an early 5-0 lead, showcasing their determination to secure a spot in the semifinals. Despite Halkbank Ankara’s efforts and a strong performance by Ngapeth, the Italian team managed to clinch the match with a final score of 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 25-15, 25-23).

In another quarterfinal match, Jastrzębski Węgiel triumphed over Gas Sales Daiko Piacenza with a clean sweep of 3-0 (25-22, 26-24, 25-21). This victory was particularly sweet for Jastrzębski Węgiel, as they reversed the outcome of the first meeting where they were defeated by Piacenza. Key players Jean Patry and Tomasz Fornal led the scoring, with Benjamin Toniutti being named MVP. They are now set to face Ziraat Bank Ankara in the semifinals.

Ziraat Bank Ankara secured their semifinal berth in a dramatic fashion against Guaguas Las Palmas. Despite losing the second match 0-3 (17-25, 21-25, 18-25), Ankara’s victory in the first match forced a golden set. They emerged victorious in the golden set with a score of 15-9. Wouter Ter Maat was named MVP.

Tomorrow, in the last quarterfinal match, Itas Trentino will go head-to-head with Berlin Recycling Volleys.
