For the third time in its history, Igor Gorgonzola Novara has secured a spot in a European final. After winning the 2019 Champions League and the 2024 Challenge Cup, the Italian team will now compete in the CEV Cup 2025 final.
Novara, led by Lorenzo Bernardi, dominated THY Istanbul with a decisive 3-0 victory in the second leg, mirroring their first-leg win. The team fought hard in the opening two sets, winning both in extra points (27-25, 26-24), before comfortably closing the match with a 25-18 third set.
The final will see Novara face Alba Blaj from Romania, with the first leg set for March 25 in Novara and the return match on April 1 in Blaj.
Head coach Lorenzo Bernardi praised his team’s determination, stating, “We knew it would be a tough match, but we stayed focused and earned our place in the final.”
Federica Squarcini highlighted the challenge of playing in Turkey, noting, “It’s never easy in such an intense atmosphere, but we came in with the right mindset and got the job done.”
