CL M: Resovia avoid fate of Skra and Lube, prevail in dramatic clash in Czech Republic

Perrin kills over Liberec block

Yesterday, Romanian representatives S.C.M. „U“ Craiova downed Polish Skra Bełchatów while Berlin Recycling Volleys from Germany beat Italian Lube Civitanova and made two huge upsets at the start of the new season in the CEV Champions League.

Liberec nealry did the same to Resovia tonight after coming back from 0-2 in sets at home in Pool B. Tie-break was leveled for most of the time but Polish sliver medalist, who were weakened with the absence of Frenchman Thibault Rossard due to injury, proved to be more experienced at this level of competition 3-2 (25-14, 25-16, 21-25, 23-25, 17-15).

Since Serbian Marko Ivović and Canadian Gavin Schmitt did not play much in this game, other Canadian, John Gordon Perrin, topped Resovia scorers with 25 points. On the other side, Adrian Patucha stood out with 19 poinst against the team from his home country.
