Arkas vs. Zaksa

The Polish titleholders Zaksa beat Arkas from Turkey by a 3-0 on the road but with each set being highly competitive until the very end.

As a matter of fact, Zaksa trailed three points in the midst of the first set (14-11) as well as late in the second set (16-13) before making a comeback to win both of them.

Only in the third set, Zaksa did not have to pursue the rivals, having an early 11-7 lead. Thanks to their most effective player today, the Cuban Michael Sánchez Bozhulev, Arkas came to one-point backlog (19-18) before Sam Deroo made the difference in the finish. Exactly the Belgian outside hitter topped Zaksa with 15 points. Sánchez made 16 points for Arkas.

An Italian side Diatec Trentino opened the competition in Pool E with a 3-1 win against Noliko Maaseik, Belgium, last night.
