Lokomotiv-Novosibirsk
By beating French titleholders Chaumont VB 52 Haute Marne in Round 4, Lokomotiv Novosibirsk from Russia secured their berth in the elimination stage of the 2018 Champions League – the Playoffs 12, in Pool C, as they become the first side in the tournament to do so.
Chaumont could not repeat the display which they showed two weeks ago when they forced Lokomotiv to play the tie-break, as they claimed only the first set before allowing the Russian side to give joy to its fans, 3-1 (23-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-18).
The German Georg Grozer topped Lokomotiv with 29 points (3 aces) while Stéphen Boyer delivered 16 points for Chaumont.
Cucine Lube Civitanova settled at the top of Pool A as they beat Fenerbahçe SK İstanbul in straight sets on the road. But, in case Sir Safety Conad Perugia defeat Knack Roeselare later on, they will replace Lube at No.1 in the pool.
Osmany Juantorena led Italian side with 17 points today. Slovenian Alen Šket made 11 points for the Turkish team.
