Competition is getting underway this weekend and consists of two tiers, thus accounting for a Golden and Silver European League with the participation of 12 and 8 national teams per gender, respectively.
The women’s Golden European League features the top 12 teams in Europe as per the latest continental ranking, with the exception of those participating in the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Nations League.
This year in the CEV Golden European League will participate Bulgaria, Portugal, Azerbaijan and Ukraine in Pool A; Croatia, Finland, Hungary and France in Pool B and Slovakia, Spain, Belarus and Czech Republic in Pool C.

In CEV Silver European League will participate Kosovo, Estonia, Sweden and Switzerland in Pool A and Georgia, Albania, Austria and Israel in Pool B.
The eventual winners of the Silver European League will move up to the Golden European League in 2019, thus replacing the lowest ranked team from the 2018 edition of the Golden EL.
