1 Day To Go: Who will take the Women’s Volleyball World Championship 2018 crown?

by WoV

Many famous bookmakers have announced their odds for the FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Championship in Japan, singling out the United States as the favorites number one!

USA women's national team

USA women’s national team

Karch Kiraly’s side is coming in Japan as the reigning World Champions and they will have a difficult task to defend the crown that they won in Italy four years ago, beating in the final the current Olympic Champions China in four sets.

According to the best world gambling companies, the United States are the favorites for winning this competition. Bet365, who has a good reputation on the website that is making reviews of the gambling companies, offers a 3,50 odd if you pick the USA to win the competition. It is interesting that the Serbian girls are coming next with 4,00 odd, while Lang Ping’s team has 5,00 odd! Brazil are also among the favorites with 6,00 odd, while if you place bet on Trinidad & Tobago, you will have to multiply it with 5,001 odd, which put them among the underdogs for this tournament.

Betway, another bookmaker with a solid reputation, offers a slightly better odd for USA’s gold than Bet365 – 3,55. For the Serbian, Chinese and Brazilian girls, the odds are exactly the same.

There is one bookmaker that has a different odds for the upcoming World Championship. It’s Bet at Home, that has the same odds for the USA (3,50) and Serbia (4,00) but offers 4,7 for the win of China and 5,25 for the victory of Brazil.

What volleyball experts say?

There are many volleyball coaches that say the United States are going to retain the gold, as they showed the best performances during the Volleyball Nations League, claiming the trophy in the brand new FIVB’s tournament.

However, some of them think that China, Serbia and Brazil are the teams that can write the history of the World Championship. Also, Italy should not be underestimated, as they have one of the best players in the world, Paola Egonu.

Expected starting line-ups and schedule

We are singling out the starting line-ups of the tournament favorites.

The head coach of the United States Karch Kiraly will have a very strong squad at the upcoming tournament. Their first opponent is Azerbaijan and probably the expected starting line-up is Lloyd – Murphy, Kim Hill – Larson, Adams – Dixon, libero Megan Courtney.

Zoran Terzic’s team will meet the Dominican Republic in their first match at the World Championship. We are expecting this starting line-up: Ognjenovic – Boskovic, Rasic – Veljkovic, Mihajlovic – Malesevic, libero: Popovic.

The Brazilian team is entering the tournament with just one opposite – Tandara. Ze Roberto, the head coach of the team, will probably attack Puerto Rico with these players: Lins – Tandara, Thaisa – Adenizia, Natalia – Garay, libero Suelen.

All eyes are on Zhu Ting when we talk about the current Olympic Champions China. The head coach of Lang Ping will probably combine for their opening game against Cuba.

The schedule for the World Championship can be found at the official website of the tournament.
