WCH 2018 W: Italy knock-out Japan and join Serbia in the semifinals!

Led by Paola Egonu, who had a great display against Japan, Italy have knocked out the hosts of the World Champs.



In a five-set thriller, Italy managed to win the tie-break and to join the Serbian team in the semifinals.

Paola Egonu had an impressive scoring performance, finishing the game with 36 points. Her teammate Miryam Sylla has added 19 points. In Japan, Erika Araki had 17, Sarina Koga 16, while Risa Shinabbe and Yuki Ishii scored 15 points each.

After the game of Italy and Japan, we know the names of all World Champs semifinalists: Serbia and Italy from Pool G, China and Netherlands from Pool H. The last round will decide the pairs in the semifinals.

The third stage, Pool G:

Italy – Japan 3-2 (25-20, 22-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-13)

First game:

Serbia – Japan 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-23)


Recall that the Dutch team defeated and dethroned the USA!
