VNL 2019 M: Strong resistance of Australia at Yoandy Leal’s debut, Brazil win, Poland defend the home court vs. USA

by WoV

The most exciting games so far in the men's Volleyball Nation League were played in Poland.

Brazil

Brazil

The game between Brazil and Australia could be described as a game for a trophy since both sides really gave everything they could to win a game. Luckily for the fans from Brazil, their team managed to come out as the winners.

In the first set, we watched an amazing battle in which the Aussies prevailed after playing 66 rallies: 34-32! Afterwards, Brazil set the control in the game, taking the next two sets to create the lead in the match 2-1.

Again, the fourth set had to be extended as the Aussies refused to surrender, forcing the fifth set after taking this part of the game 29-27.

However, the experienced players of Brazil knew how to play the tie-break. They won it 15-13, but it was a difficult job for the Brazilians.

We need to single out Yoandy Leal, the Cuban born player, who made a debut for the Brazilian national team today, scoring 14 points. Wallace de Souza was the best scorer with 20 points, while on the other side Jordan Richards and Samuel Walker had 21 points each.

Aleksander Sliwka was the best scorer with 20 points, while Dawid Konarski contributed with 15 and Michal Kubiak with 14. On the other side, Torey Defalco scored 20 points and Garrett Muaguttutia 19 points.
