There are fewer and fewer teams with no defeat at the 2019 World Cup in Japan. Actually, there are only two remained at the end of Day 4. The USA swept the Netherlands in the battle of the two out of three undefeated sides after three rounds, in Hamamatsu: 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-29). This means that the USA improved to a 4-0, while “Oranje“ have a 3-1 record.

The winning side made brutal runs in each of the three sets that paved its path toward the win: 5-0 (1st), 7-0 (2nd) and 6-0 (3rd). Jordan Larson top-scored for the United States with 16 points (4 aces). Lonneke Slöetjes put down 10 for the Dutch team whose players did not serve a single ace.

Apart from the USA, the only unbeaten team that remained in the tournament is China. Led by Zhu Ting (20 points), the Asian side easily defeated the Dominican Republic by a 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-19) in Yokohama. Jineiry Martínez scored 10 for the Caribbean side. So far, none of the teams managed to take a set from China!

Brazil, Russia and Japan recorded straight-set wins, while Serbia were looking in the face of the tie-break against Argentina after trailing by a 19-13 in the fourth set but recovered mostly thanks to Ana Bjelica (29 points, including 5 kill blocks).
