Thanks to an impeccable blocking display by Ana Carolina Silva ‘Carol’, author of 10 of her team’s 21 stuffs, Brazil defeated the biggest favorites for the title, Italy, in the semi-finals of the Women’s World Championship 2022 in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. Thus, the ‘Seleção’ returned to the gold medal dispute after 12 years. To climb to the tallest step on the podium, Brazil will have to beat the reigning champions, Serbia, on October 15.

The ladies of José Roberto Guimarães ‘Zé Roberto’ knew how to deal with any pressure they stumbled upon in a duel with the current winners of the FIVB VNL and CEV EuroVolley to beat them again in this World Championship. Brazil, for which Gabriela Guimarães ‘Gabi’ scored 20 points, rejected the 30 points (but achieved through only 19.05% attack: 19/63 and as many as 16 errors) of Paola Egonu.

With a 3-1 win, partial 25-23, 22-25, 26-24, and 25-19, Brazil will play its first World Champs final since 2010 (lost to Russia 2-3), aiming for the first-ever title.
