The second week of the Volleyball Nations League (VNL) 2023 commenced with an exciting showdown in Brasilia, Brazil. Germany demonstrated an impressive performance, clinching their fourth win in the tournament. They defeated Thailand with a score of 3-1 (25-20, 25-13, 19-25, 25-23), maintaining the momentum they had built during their first four games in Nagoya, Japan.
The German team was led by Camilla Weitzel with a commendable 17 points, closely followed by Marie Schölzer who contributed 15 points. Thailand’s Thatdao Nuekjang matched Weitzel’s score, becoming the highest scorer of the match, with Pimpichaya Kokram and Chatchu-On Moksri also scoring 10 points each.
Following this, the Brazilian team gave their home crowd of 8,000 fans a reason to cheer as they secured their fourth win in the VNL 2023. They defeated Korea with a decisive 3-0 (31-29, 25-16, 25-16) victory at the Nilson Nelson Stadium. Kisy Nascimento and Julia Bergmann from the Brazilian side led the scoring board with 15 points each. Korea’s struggle in the VNL 2023 continues as they failed to secure a set win yet again. Their top scorer for the match was Daeun Kim with 11 points.
