VNL W: Poland Clinches Historic Bronze at the Volleyball Nations League Finals

The Polish women’s volleyball team created a momentous chapter in their sporting history by clinching their first-ever bronze medal at the Volleyball Nations League finals, held in Arlington, USA. This victory was celebrated after a thrilling 3-2 win over the USA team.

Comprising 11 players from the Polish Tauron League, the Polish team put on an exemplary performance, despite the overwhelming support for the home team in the American crowd. The match was a captivating display of skill, with Poland consistently leading the final match up to a fiercely contested final tie-break.

The Americans staged an impressive comeback from a 6-2 deficit to level the game at 11-11. Nonetheless, the Polish team prevailed in the point-by-point finale, saving two USA match points. The highlight of the match was the decisive block by Rozanski on Drews that crowned the Polish team’s triumph.

The final scoreline read: Poland 3, United States 2 (25-15, 16-25, 25-19, 18-25, 17-15). Poland’s Stysiak emerged as the top scorer with 23 points. She was closely followed by Skynner from the USA with 18 points. Other significant contributors for Poland were Lukasik, Rozanski, Korneluk, and Jurczyk, scoring 14, 14, 13, and 10 points respectively. Drews from the USA also contributed with 10 points.

The Polish squad earned a commendable third position in the 2023 VNL, reflecting their excellent performance in this year’s competition. Having clinched the top spot in the Preliminary Phase with ten victories from twelve matches, they effortlessly sailed into the VNL Finals.
