In their first Pool A match, the Italian team dominated Brazil’s Itambé Minas, boosting their chances for a semifinal spot.
Kamil Semeniuk, scoring 11 points, and Oley Plotnytskiy, adding 8 points, spearheaded Perugia’s effortless 3-0 triumph over Minas. Despite the loss, Paulo Vinicios Ferreira from Minas emerged as the match’s highest scorer with 17 points.
In Pool B, Brazil’s Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei overcame Japan’s Suntory Sunbirds 3-2, with Cuban Miguel Angel López scoring a impressive 31 points.
