Perugia and Sada Cruzeiro Won Their Matches at the FIVB Men’s Volleyball Club World Championship

Bengaluru, India: Sir Sicoma Perugia, the reigning world champions, kicked off their 2023 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Club World Championship campaign with a victory, indicating their strong intent to defend their title. In their first Pool A match, the Italian team dominated Brazil’s Itambé Minas, boosting their chances for a semifinal spot.

Kamil Semeniuk, scoring 11 points, and Oley Plotnytskiy, adding 8 points, spearheaded Perugia’s effortless 3-0 triumph over Minas. Despite the loss, Paulo Vinicios Ferreira from Minas emerged as the match’s highest scorer with 17 points.

In Pool B, Brazil’s Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei overcame Japan’s Suntory Sunbirds 3-2, with Cuban Miguel Angel López scoring a impressive 31 points. Despite the loss, the Sunbirds secured a spot in the semifinals, setting the stage for a match between Sada and Halkbank Spor Kulübü to determine the second team to advance.

The championship continues in Bengaluru, with semifinals scheduled for Saturday and the medal matches concluding the event on Sunday.
