The U.S. volleyball team failed to qualify for the final eight tournament in Łódź, Poland. A decisive 3-0 defeat by Japan, now ranked second in the world, sealed their fate. This victory propelled Japan ahead of Slovenia in the rankings.

Slovenia must win 3-1 in sets tonight to reclaim second place and secure a favorable draw for the Olympic tournament. A minimal win might leave them behind Japan and risk being overtaken by Italy.

Slovenia will play for first place in the VNL 2024 tonight in Stožice, aiming for a quarterfinal match against Argentina. A loss could drop them to fourth place, facing a tougher path through Brazil.

The Olympic group draw will feature France, Poland, and Japan as top seeds, with Slovenia, Italy, and the U.S. in the second tier. Brazil, Argentina, and Canada will follow, with Serbia, Germany, and Egypt rounding out the groups.

Serbia, having secured their Olympic spot after Poland’s 3-0 win over Cuba, will play Slovenia tonight with less pressure. Even a 0-3 loss to Slovenia won’t affect their standings significantly.

Poland concluded the VNL phase with a victory over Cuba, ensuring Serbia’s Olympic qualification. Serbia aims to make their first Olympic appearance since 2012.

Poland defeated Cuba 3-0 (25-17, 25-20, 25-20) with standout performances from Wilfredo Leon and Bartosz Kurek. The final VNL tournament will be held from June 27-30 in Łódź.
