FIVB WCC M: Lube and Sada Cruzeiro Secure Semifinal Spots

Cucine Lube Civitanova (Italy) and Sada Cruzeiro (Brazil) clinched the final spots in the semifinals of the FIVB Volleyball Men’s Club World Championship 2024. They join Trentino Itas (Italy) and Foolad Sirjan Iranian (Iran) in today’s medal matches in Uberlândia.

    • Foolad (Pool A winners) vs. Sada Cruzeiro (Pool B runners-up)
    • Trentino (Pool B winners) vs. Lube (Pool A runners-up)

Lube defeated Al Ahly SC (Egypt) 3-1 (25-21, 24-26, 25-16, 25-17) in a crucial Pool A match. Aleksandar Nikolov led with 20 points, supported by Adis Lagumdzija’s 17. Despite early setbacks, middle blocker Marko Podraščanin expressed optimism: “We’re two steps away from the title.”

Sada Cruzeiro advanced after Ciudad Voley (Argentina) defeated Shahdab Yazd (Iran) 3-1 (25-23, 25-25, 17-25, 25-18) in Pool B. Jonas Ponzio starred with 21 points for Ciudad, securing Cruzeiro’s semifinal place.

The Italians now face off in a derby, while the Brazilians challenge the undefeated Iranians for a spot in the final.
