
Led by standout opposite Kento Miyaura, Japan delivered a dominant performance, defeating the Netherlands 3-0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-18) in their final match of the opening week of the Volleyball Nations League 2025. Japan now holds a 3-1 record with 9 points, while the Netherlands drops to 1-3.
Miyaura topped the scoring with 14 points, including two crucial service aces during a late third-set surge. Rising star Keihan Takahashi, just 21, sealed the match with the winning spike.
“We’re happy with our results. It’s been a great experience for the younger players,” said Miyaura after the match.
Dutch outside hitter Bennie Tuinstra led his team with 13 attack points and remained positive despite the loss, citing the squad’s growth and effort.
