Brazil shook off a shaky start to defeat the Dominican Republic 3-1 in the Round of 16 of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship in Bangkok.

After losing the first set 18-25, the South Americans took control with sharp serving and strong defense, dominating the next three sets (25-12, 25-20, 25-12) to secure their quarterfinal berth.
Captain Gabriela “Gabi” Guimarães was the star of the night, scoring a match-high 21 points. Rosamaria Montibeller chipped in with 11, while Júlia Bergmann added 12. For the Dominican Republic, opposite Gaila González led the way with 15 points, supported by Jineiry Martínez (9) and Brayelín Martínez (8).
Brazil will now face France in the quarterfinals on Thursday, after the French pulled off an upset win over China earlier in the day.
