The Polish men’s volleyball team secured a bronze medal at the 2025 FIVB World Championship in the Philippines after defeating Czechia 3-1 in the third-place match. For coach Nikola Grbić’s squad, it was a tough challenge, but the Poles managed to overcome their own struggles and edge past their rivals.
This result marks Poland’s first-ever World Championship bronze, adding to their collection of three golds (1974, 2014, 2018) and two silvers (2006, 2022).
The victory was powered by Wilfredo Leon, who delivered a match-high 26 points, and Kewin Sasak, who added 11. For Czechia, Lukas Vasina led with 19 points, while Patrik Indra scored 11. Despite their strong resistance, the Czechs were undone by 35 unforced errors, compared to Poland’s 28.
Poland also outperformed their opponents in other areas: 9–7 in blocks and 5–3 in serve aces, while remaining slightly sharper in attack.
The final scoreline stood at 3-1 (25-18, 23-25, 25-22, 25-21), securing Poland a spot on the podium, while Czechia finished as one of the biggest surprises of the tournament—though without a medal.
