Austrian and Finnish U20 women’s volleyball national teams got forfeited twice each (2 x 0-3 each) by the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) for not showing up at one of four European first-round qualification tournaments, in Ankara. There is no official information on why they did not come to Turkish capital. One of versions says the main reason was unstable situation in Turkey caused by two terrorist attacks in less than a week –  in Istanbul and Izmir.

Ankara organized Pool B of first-round qualification tournament in which, besides Austria and Finland who started their campaign with 0-2 and 0-6 set-ratio, Bulgaria and Turkey compete as well.
