Both Pool F favorites Russia and Brazil secured semi-final spot at the U21 World Championship as they beat Canada and Argentina, respectively, in Round 2 of the Second Stage in Brno. „Zbornaya“ had to work harder than Brazil to achieve their win as they needed four sets 3-1 (28-26, 25-27, 25-21, 25-13). A receiver competing in the Russian Division 2 with Yaroslavl Yaroslavich, Ivan Piskarev, topped his national team with 20 points. The University of McMaster receiver Matthew Passalent scored 16 for Canada.

Brazil easily prevailed over fierce South American rivals Argentina 3-0 thanks to 13 points from Sada Cruzeiro Vôlei receiver Pablo Natan Ventura. Obras UDAP Voley opposite Gerónimo Elgueta noted 16 for Argentina.

Poland came close to semi-final from Pool E as they downed Cuba in straight sets while Iran outplayed China only in the tie-break.
