by WoV

After China and the Netherlands finished their last match in Pool J, now we know the pairs of the semifinals of the FIVB World Grand Prix 2017.

China

NED-CHN

The leaders of Pool J China will face Italy in the semifinals while Serbia will play against Brazil since the Dutch girls suffered defeat from host 2-3 (25-23, 23-25, 25-23, 20-25, 18-16). Because of the one victory, Brazilian girls will continue with competition while the Dutch team will travel home.

Top scorer of the match was Zhu Ting with 33 points while on the other side Nika Daalderop scored 22 for the Netherlands.

The Netherlands held the lead but China made some solid blocks that shifted the momentum to their side, including the block by Gong to seal the opening set win at 25-23. They took alternate set wins in the next three frames for the match to be decided in the tie-breaker. China had a cardiac finish as Zhu’s power plays helped snatch the lead and the match win from the Netherlands.
