The Brazilian powerhouse Sada Cruzeiro wrecked Polish titleholders and also the hosts ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle in the last round of Pool A in Opole to stay alive for the title defense in the Club World Championship – 3-0 (25-13, 32-20, 25-20).
Zaksa missed a chance to extend a direct duel for the spot in the semifinals by at least one set as they dropped a 16-11 lead in the second set.
The Cuban Yoandy Leal topped Cruzeiro with 19 points, including 6 served aces. The Belgian Sam Deroo scored 12 points for Zaksa.
In case Cucine Lube Civitanova from Italy beat Iranian Sarmayeh Bank later tonight, they will claim the top spot in Pool A while Cruzeiro will go down to No.2.
