A 21-man list of Russia men’s national team for the 2018 Volleyball Nations League, that will have six debutants, was sent to the FIVB. Surprisingly, the head coach Sergey Shlyapnikov decided to cross off the setters Aleksandr Butko and Sergey Grankin from a preliminary list. The opposite Pavel Kruglov, middle blockers Ilyas Kurkaev, Aleksey Safonov and Dmitriy Shcherbinin, outside hitters Yuriy Berezhko and Egor Feoktistov, and libero Artem Zelenkov also did not make to the final list. Dmitriy Volkov was appointed a captain of „Zbornaya“.
