Now, Colombia and Peru from Pool A and Bulgaria and Puerto Rico from Pool B will compete for the first place at the FIVB Challenger Cup for Women and the last ticket to 2019 Volleyball Nations League.
In the semifinal, Puerto Rico will face Colombia while Bulgaria will clash with the hosts Peru. The winner of the VCC advances to next year’s FIVB Volleyball Nations League, replacing Argentina who were relegated this year.
Today, Peru defeated Hungary thanks to Karla Beatriz Ortiz who scored 12 points, followed by captain Clarivett Yllescas who added another 11 points from the middle.
In the second match of the day, European Golden League winners Bulgaria scored their second straight-set win, this time against Puerto Rico 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-14), to finish atop Pool B.
Opposite Silvana Chausheva was top scorer of the game on 13 points, with captain Hristina Ruseva contributing 12 from the middle and Gergana Dimitrova another 11 points.
