Even though these sides have been regularly participating in the European Cups for the past decade, this was the first time TOURS VB and Lokomotiv KHARKIV crossed their ways. David Konecny – the team captain and opposite of TOURS VB – imposed his presence on the game right from the start and TOURS VB comfortably pocketed the opening set with the score of 25-15. The second set was a much different story, with Lokomotiv moving to the front (17:20) before the home hero, Konecny, took his side by the hand to flip the charts around (26-24).
Even though the score remained pretty close almost all the way through in set 3, TOURS VB never let the Ukrainians move to the front and eventually cruised to a well-deserved 3:0 win with Konecny that registered 23 points all alone in the end.
