The main goal set by coaches Mauricio Paes and Magali Magail was to give some playing time to each member of the roster and to try as many options as possible before the tournament coming up next week where France will play hosts Croatia, Hungary and the Netherlands.

Without their major star Christina Bauer – who this year plays in Turkey for the likes of Fenerbahce SK ISTANBULFrance lost the first friendly match with hosts Bulgaria in straight sets (21-25, 28-30, 20-25).

On Sunday France lost also the second fixture, but this time 1:3 (22-25, 22-25, 25-19, and 13-25) to the side that finished this year’s European League in third place.

After making the 1/4 finals of this year’s European Championship where they lost to Belgium, France will try to make the Worlds for the first time in 40 years.
