They took the gold medal for the first time in their history!

France opened game much better. With a few very good counter attacks they made 5-0 lead at the beginning of the first set. Podrascanin was the man who scored first point for Serbia in the final (5:1).

After one more point of Tillie’s side (6:2) Serbia answered back with 3-0 scoring run (6:5). Two minutes later, France went to the First TTO with one point of advantage (8-7).

With the points of Le Goff and Earving Ngapeth, France increased the lead at the second TTO – 16:11! At the result 20:16 for French team, Rouzier blocked Uroš Kovačević and his team got five-point lead! Serbia couldn’t make come back and Ngapeth scored a point for 1:0 lead in sets!

In the second set France again had the lead at the first TTO. Serbian side, after a few words of Nikola Grbić during the time-out, managed to make turnaround (10:8). But, Tillie’s side reacted very well and quickly took over the lead at the second TTO (16:14).

After a few rallies, France got the first set point (24:20). Grbic’s joker Okolic made a service mistake and gave France 2:0 lead!

Serbia was trailing in the third set by two 16:14 but when Saša Starović entered the court he made 6-1 scoring run! But, believe it or not, France managed to make comeback again and to win the match! It was dissapointing finish by Serbian side.

It was the fifth final of the Serbia in World League and they have five silver medals!

The best scorers were Rouzier (17) and Ngapeth (16), while Atanasijevic had 10 points for Serbian side.

Congratulations to France. They came from so called second group and won against so called all elite teams, including brasilian fans. They have deserved it absolutely. Grebennikov is the best libero, no matter what. NGapeth is the best team player. He does what a team needs at crucial times.

Really one of the best teams in the world. And they also showed everybody how to behave, live and play as a team without any ‘star’ inside. And of course, MVP really deserved the prize!!!
