SSC Palmberg Schwerin are the new leaders of the 2019/20 German Women’s Volleyball Championship regular season.

Schwerin

The two best teams have met in the last game of the year in the  2019/20 1. Bundesliga Frauen regular season. Interestingly, the same thing has happened in the last two years as well so, it seems that some sort of tradition of the pre-Christmas face-off between SSC Palmberg Schwerin and Allianz MTV Stuttgart is established. Just 10 days after the dramatic national cup semi-finals, Schwerin took revenge on the champions Stuttgart in the match valid for Round 11 of the league. With the win, 9th in a row, Schwerin took the lead in the charts for the first time this season (9-1; 26 points), skipping today’s rivals who are at 8-2 and 25 points. A duo Kimberly Drewniok (5 aces) and Hungarian Gréta Szakmáry led Schwerin to a win with 25 and 24 points, respectively. American Krystal Rivers chipped in with 19 points for Stuttgart.

The only winless team prior to this round, VfB Suhl LOTTO Thüringen, have finally achieved their first success in the competition for which they needed 10 games.
